Materials used by "Caprice"ECND 76/769/EEC 14th Amendment. Nickel Content.The European Community Nickel Directive was passed by the European Parliament in June 1994. However it will not become law until the European Committee for Standardisation has agreed upon a standardised method of testing for nickel. The Nickel Directive has determined the following points; that no product may contain more than 0.05% of nickel; that no product may release nickel at a rate of more than 0.5ug/cm2/week for duration of at least two years of normal use. "Caprice" and nickel content. Although the EEC has not yet limited the amount of nickel in metal which is in content with the skin, wherever possible our products will be low nickel, particularly earwires. Hallmarking.Government Hallmarking is required on individual items with a weight of 7grams or more. "Caprice" and hallmarking. In general, many individual items fall below the Government Hallmarking weight of 7grams, even though collectively the components may weigh more than this. Consequently, hallmarks are not always evident. Gemstones.Gemstones vary greatly in quality and colour. Some are fragile and chip with a slight knock, others can be heat-treated to enhance or change their colour, some are dyed and some may be reconstituted. None of this is unusual. We do not knowingly use dyed or reconstituted gemstones without labelling them as such for your information.
